With a BA from the University of Pittsburgh, I thought I had found my niche in painting, until I touched leather. Working in leather allows me to translate my training in two-dimensional art into three-dimensional leather art. Being a fabric artist has different freedoms than painting; it’s an addictive process in a very unforgiving medium. I see designs in my leather, as I see ideas on a blank canvas. Crisscrossing ideas of colors and designs make up the foundation of my business. The organic edges and qualities of full grain hides inspire me; my designs are dynamic and always evolving. All bags are designed and made by me, under the name of Luna Jaze. Art isn’t a choice it’s a gift, of which I am very grateful to own.
Jorge Gil
I strive for simple clean lines in leather, incorporating subtle details to make my work intimate and personal. Innovative designs, bold colors, concept, form and function are my primary considerations. I hand-cut the leather and dye my own colors. Exotic leathers are not part of my work. I am a one person company, who lives in the “middle of nowhere” in upstate New York.
Randall Herold
Using the finest Italian leathers (teak, loomed, woven cowhide), pearlized finishings, semi-precious findings and detailed accents, hand braiding, and French binding construction, Randall Herold boldly integrates contemporary and primordial impulse. Each purse, consisting of as many as 150 hand-cut pieces that require multiple forming and stitching processes, is individually produced by the artist himself. Every cut, every stitch is faithful to balance, whether symmetrical or asymmetrical, and Old World craftsmanship. His commitment to the highest quality materials and his tools, and his understanding of the needs his products serve, epitomizes the essential craftsman and artist that is Randall Herold.
